The at-grade sections are paved with a permeable material that allows water to flow through to the ground. The trail includes elevated boardwalk sections and at-grade paved trails. The project incorporates safety, sustainability, and accessibility into a thoughtful design that minimizes impacts to the natural environment while enhancing connectivity and accessibility for cyclists and pedestrians. In addition, consultant Kimley-Horn received the “Planning and Design of an Alternative Mode Transportation Facility” award for the Bob Callan Trail extension project (Phase II/Segment A).Ī partnership of Cumberland CID, Atlanta Regional Commission, Cobb DOT, and the Georgia Department of Transportation, this 1-mile extension of the Bob Callan Trail runs north along Rottenwood Creek and allows users to experience this beautiful urban stream that was previously hidden by surrounding commercial developments.
